Abstract
En retraçant les années de gloire et déclin de la discothèque le Starlight à Montréal de 1976 à 1980, le film Funkytown explore le disco comme mode de vie et comme ayant joué un rôle crucial dans la vie des hommes gays dans la ville la plus célèbre et la plus cosmopolite du Québec. À travers l’analyse de deux personnages du film, Jonathan et Tino, cet essai (incluant une analyse de la masculinité gay et une étude comparative avec Saturday Night Fever) développe les liens entre le disco comme mouvement culturel et l’homosexualité comme désir et identité.
