Abstract
In the history of feminist movement, the phrase “personal is political” was associated with “radical feminism” which emerged in the late 1960s in the United States. At the heart of radical feminism was the view that the so‐called personal lives of women were in fact rife with power relations which consistently placed women in an inferior position to men, and even directly under their control. This was wrong and had to be redressed by society as a political issue that mattered to all rather than as a personal problem that individual women faced.
