Comment les ecrivains quebecois se situent-ils dans le contexte de la francophonie? Qu'en est-il de la litterature quebecoise en regard des autres litteratures de langue francaise? Quels types de liens peut-on etablir entre les differentes aires francophones? Dans quelle mesure les ?uvres contemporaines sont-elles tributaires des propositions formelles fournies par les ecrivains non hexagonaux? Peut-on parler d'un heritage commun et d'une information reciproque? Quelles configurations sont privilegiees? Des ecrivains s'interrogent sur le concept de litterature-monde et temoignent de leurs rapports avec d'autres ecrivains de langue francaise. Le texte de Jean-Marie G. Le Clezio constitue sa premiere conference publique, quelques jours a peine apres l'annonce de son prix Nobel de litterature. Pour lui, «le francais est beaucoup plus qu'une langue. Il est un lieu d'echanges et de rencontres».
