Abstract
El auge del nacionalismo en Catalunya es un ejemplo de lo que Girard entiende por rivalidad mimética. También de lo que Maalouf define como lucha de identidades, basada en estereotipos convertidos en convicciones profundas que llegan a hacer que la mayoría se sienta amenazada por la minoría, en palabras de Appadurai. El peligro de esta deriva ideológica no es sólo una eventual secesión política, sino también una escalada de tensión social que podría desembocar en episodios de violencia.
