Abstract
Cet article propose une analyse herméneutique d’une des oeuvres religieuses les plus achevées de Gilles Tremblay, Les Vêpres de la Vierge, écrite en 1986. Sous forme d’essai, l’auteur pose une réflexion sur l’articulation entre les écrits du compositeur et son oeuvre, et explique la manière par laquelle le compositeur transporte les prototypes du chant grégorien dans son propre univers par un enchaînement tout naturel des procédés propres au XXe siècle avec ceux de l’antique plain-chant, énoncé dans une forme épurée. L’auteur conclut que, dans cette oeuvre, tout se joue dans le processus de jointure et de maintien de la mémoire globale de ce qui a été entendu.
