«Little Miss Beaudet» fut la coqueluche de puissants impresarios, des paparazzis et des journalistes a travers le monde. A une epoque ou il n'y avait ni radio ni television, les gestes, les succes ou les deboires de cette prima donna, chic et excentrique, intriguaient et fascinaient. Elle a chante pour la reine Victoria et a joue les plus grands roles shakespeariens dans la plupart des colonies britanniques. Elle a fait du vaudeville, du music-hall, de l'opera-comique et du cinema muet. Au plus fort de sa celebrite, lorsque mademoiselle Beaudet interpretait un role ou qu'elle osait montrer la finesse de ses chevilles, certains admirateurs en perdaient presque leurs moyens. L'etonnant parcours de Louise Beaudet debute au milieu du XIXe siecle lorsqu'elle quitte Lotbiniere avec ses proches pour suivre la vague des milliers de Canadiens francais qui esperaient trouver une vie meilleure aux Etats-Unis. Elle reussit a se demarquer de la plupart de ces pauvres expatries grâce au theâtre qui fut sa bouee de secours. Appuyee par son enorme talent, sa beaute, son intelligence, sa determination et sa petillante personnalite, elle connut une carriere internationale epoustouflante. Les projecteurs sont allumes. La star, mademoiselle Louise Beaudet, entre en scene. Marjolaine Saint-Pierre est une passionnee d'histoire qui se consacre aux biographies de gens meconnus, mais remarquables. Son livre Saint-Castin a obtenu le prix France-Acadie en 2000 et, en 2014, son ouvrage Lacorne Saint-Luc a remporte le prix Percy-William Foy de la Societe historique de Montreal. Elle a aussi publie en 2004 un livre qui raconte les exploits du capitaine Joseph-Elzear Bernier. Ces trois ouvrages ont ete publies au Septentrion.
