Fluid compositions and temperature-pressure conditions of intrusion-related gold systems in southwestern New Brunswick - a fluid-inclusion study

Abstract
Several gold occurrences discovered in the granite-dominated districts of southwestern New Brunswick share some similarities with a newly recognized type of intrusion-related gold systems. This paper presents fluid inclusion microthermometry data from four gold occurrences in southwestern New Brunswick (Poplar Mountain, Clarence Stream, Jimmy Hill, and Kedron). These data suggest that mineralizing fluid systems for Poplar Mountain, Clarence Stream, and Jimmy Hill may be approximated by H2O-NaCl-CO2-CH4 (characteristic of the deeper part of the new type of intrusion-related gold systems) and those for Kedron, byH2O-NaCl with high salinities (characteristic of the shallower part of the systems). Fluid temperatures are mainly 220°C to 280°C for Poplar Mountain, 180°C to 280°C for Clarence Stream, 230°C to 330°C for Jimmy Hill, and 120°C to 200°C for Kedron. Fluid pressures are probably 785 to 1364 bars for Poplar Mountain, 594 to 1226 bars for Clarence Stream, and 965 to 1764 bars for Jimmy Hill.
