Abstract
Le projet d'usine de démonstration du captage de CO2 postcombustion Genesee d'EPCOR prévoit la construction d'une installation de démonstration qui permettra le captage du CO2 provenant d'une nouvelle centrale au charbon à l'usine Genesee (150 mégawatts [MW] nets) en Alberta. Le CO2 capté serait transporté en collaboration avec Enbridge et le Projet d'aquifère salin de l'Alberta et servirait à la RAP ou serait séquestré dans une formation saline située à une centaine de kilomètres de Genesee. Le Projet d'aquifère salin de l'Alberta aurait également la responsabilité de mesurer et de contrôler la quantité de CO2 qui serait stockée dans l'aquifère salin. L'usine Genesee devrait être mise en service en 2015 et assurerait le captage quotidien de 3 000 tonnes de CO2, soit près de 1 mégatonne par année.
