<p style="text-align: justify;">Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan informasi keragaman galur-galur F4 hasil persilangan padi IPB 4S dan Situ Patenggang dan membandingkannya dengan varietas pembanding<strong>. </strong>Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Cikabayan, Institut Pertanian Bogor. Penanaman dilakukan dengan menanam populasi F4 hasil persilangan IPB 4S dengan Situ Patenggang sebanyak 100 galur terpilih dengan 4 varietas pembanding yaitu IPB 4S, Situ Patenggang, 7R dan 6R. Peubah yang diamati yaitu tinggi tanaman, jumlah anakan total, jumlah anakan produktif, panjang malai, jumlah gabah bernas, bobot gabah bernas, bobot gabah hampa, dan bobot 100 butir. Hasil perhitungan nilai tengah menunjukkan beberapa karakter populasi F4 memiliki nilai tengah lebih baik dari pembandingnya. Nilai heritabilitas dan koefisien keragaman genetik yang tinggi terdapat hampir pada seluruh karakter. Seleksi dilakukan berdasarkan bobot gabah bernas per tanaman karena memiliki nilai heritabilitas arti luas dan koefisien keragaman genetik yang tinggi.</p>
