Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Centimetre-sized, concentrically laminated structures from lower Athabasca Group strata at Maybelle River and Hook Lake in southwestern Athabasca Basin are interpreted to be organosedimentary clay oncoids that grew in pools in ephemeral river systems or in scattered lakes that developed during an erosional hiatus after deposition of the Fair Point Formation. In the Read Lake area, microscopic laminae are preserved in microcrystalline quartz that cements angular siliciclastic breccia fragments; these are also of probable microbial origin. These observations contribute to a growing body of evidence for life in Proterozoic nonmarine environments. They also suggest a humid regional climate postdating Fair Point Formation deposition and predating deposition of the Read and Smart formations, that have characteristics of flashy braided river deposits laid down in an arid environment. Furthermore, these rare organosedimentary features have the potential to be a unique stratigraphic marker in Athabasca Basin.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
