Abstract
L’orientation atlantique de l’Europe centrale est analysée à travers l’exemple de trois pays : la Hongrie, la Pologne et la République tchèque. L’étude démontre que ce choix, fait juste après la fin de la guerre froide, n’était ni logique ni évident, mais tenait d’une construction politique dont les ressorts furent différents selon les cas considérés. L’atlantisme résultait tant de jeux politiques nationaux que de la formation de liens culturels ou de considérations géopolitiques. Cependant, si les modalités de son inscription à l’agenda furent variées, les raisons qui motivèrent celle-ci furent similaires et correspondaient à des besoins sécuritaires et identitaires. Enfin, cet exemple montre à quel point les passés douloureux ont influencé la construction de la politique étrangère.
