Abstract
L’identification de l’emplacement de Ba‘li-ra’si, mentionné dans trois textes de Salmanazar III datables vers 841 av. J.-C., a fait l’objet de nombreuses spéculations. Plusieurs études ont été émises à cet égard, dont celles qui localisent Ba‘li-ra’si au site de Reshba‘l et au Ras ach-chaq‘a-Theouprosopon. Ces deux hypothèses nous semblent loin d’être plausibles et méritent d’être réexaminées à la lumière des nouvelles découvertes archéologiques. Par contre, nous suggérons, à la base d’une lecture plus adéquate des textes et des prospections archéologiques récents au Mont-Liban, une nouvelle localisation du toponyme Ba‘li-ra’si. Il nous paraît très probable que ce toponyme rarissime mentionné dans les sources assyriennes se situe sur une colline donnant sur la mer et la région de Tyr, au début de la route qui mène de Sidon vers la Beqa‘.
