Abstract
Among Canadian Native peoples, drug abuse constitute a major health problem. The government's policies don't seem fit with the expectations of Native populations. Indeed, it's essential to identify the various contexts of drug consumption but also the effects of colonial history on Natives' health. That's why a healing movement recently developed, based on the Amerindian spirituality. For the Natives, this initiative is in line with their will of cultural claiming and autonomy in the resolution of their social problems. The integration of traditional knowledge and practices leds to the setting up of new therapeutic forms, where different visions of illness and wellness are involved.
