Abstract
L’objet de cet article est, dans un premier temps, de proposer une modélisation du champ théâtral francophone en contexte minoritaire fondée sur la sociologie de la culture de Pierre Bourdieu et les réflexions de Roger Parent et de François Paré. Dans un second temps, nous testerons ce modèle en l’appliquant au champ du théâtre francophone à Edmonton durant les années 1980 et 1990. Nous verrons que ce modèle se révèle particulièrement utile non seulement pour comprendre les tensions qui se font jour dans ce champ, mais également pour saisir les conditions d’émergence d’un théâtre dit « communautaire », dont on a tendance à croire qu’il a toujours existé.
