Konnten die asketischen Praktiken der Antike zumindest noch auf eine ‚Ästhetik des Selbst‘ (Foucault) hin finalisiert werden, scheinen spätmoderne Steigerungslogiken sich tendenziell gegen jeden Rahmen verselbständigt und entgrenzt zu haben: Hand in Hand mit neoliberalen Anrufungen der Individuen ist die Steigerung des Menschen auch über sich selbst hinaus zum gesellschaftlichen Fortschrittsimperativ geworden. Abzulesen ist dies nicht zuletzt am neuerlichen Auftrieb eines kybernetischen Denkstils, der Virulenz von trans- und posthumanistischen Ideen oder an der Veralltäglichung des (Neuro-)Enhancements. Die Beiträge des Bandes erkunden die Nähen dieser Entwicklungen zu pädagogischen Fragestellungen und widmen sich dazu Aspekten der jüngeren Geschichte der Pädagogik, gegenwärtigen Themenkonjunkturen in anderen Diskursfeldern und nicht zuletzt der Analyse von aktuellen empirischen Phänomenen sowie (Film-)Materialien, denen Überschreitungslogiken inhärent sind.
