Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Data on teat condition (tissue elasticity, teat shape and colour) and udder health parameters, milk yield and milk withdrawal time was raised in an automatic milking system (AMS) over 5 months. A total of 3400 quarter milk samples was obtained on 13 sampling days. During the 3-phase main trial, quarters were milked alternately using liners with round (R) and triangular (D) bores, so that they were assigned to one of two groups (RDR and RRD). This study intended to measure the impact of triangular liners on teat condition, new infection rate and milking pattern. 1st Udder health was categorized according to IDF recommendations, i.e. on cyto bacteriological findings of quarter foremilk samples. Many quarters harboured Corynebacterium spp., with a growing tendency as the survey progressed. This ample distribution of this pathogen might be associated with a deficient teat disinfection. At the same time, a reduction of infections with CNS was observed. 2nd There were no significant differences between quarters milked with round and triangular liners regarding udder health categorisation. No influences were measured of the liner type on electrical conductivity, somatic cell count and NAGase activity. 3rd During the survey, the amount of normally-secreting quarters increased in both groups (RRD/RDR) and regardless the type of liner used. This pattern may be due to a reduced new infection risk while the lactation progresses. 4th Milk withdrawal time did not differ significantly (p = 0.0787) between liner types. A mean withdrawal time of 3.39 ± 1.39 min was calculated. Liner shape did not affect quarter yield and secretion rate significantly. 5th An amount of moderate callous ring formation at teat ends increasing with DIM (regardless of the liner type, however) is suggestive of a successful teat massage and approaching physiological milking. 6th Teat tissue thickness increased during the survey. Tissue elasticity gains and losses were observed with both liners. 7th New infection remained unaffected by liner type. 8th The milking and teat condition parameters were not changed by the liner shape. However, lactation stage showed significant effects on electrical conductivity, cutometry and secretion rate. 9th Unlike quarter position, liner shape did not affect significantly the milking and teat condition parameters of a reference group of quarters secreting normally throughout the entire trial. With triangular liners, another attempt was made to improve the technical milking conditions for cows. Yet and in comparison to conventional liners, milking pattern, teat skin condition and udder health were neither improved nor deteriorated by using triangular liners. The results of this study show however that special attention must be paid on correct handling and regular replacement of liners. Liner and parlour hygiene goes with saying.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
