Abstract
Cet article analyse les mécanismes de participation de personnes détentrices de savoirs expérientiels de différentes réalités, dont les problèmes de santé mentale, l’itinérance, la toxicomanie et la pauvreté, dans le projet Chez-soi Montréal (2009-2013). Cette analyse nous permet de caractériser leur rôle au sein du projet, dans et hors des comités dans lesquels elles siégeaient. Nous mettons l’accent sur l’idée de monopole professionnel pour expliquer l’implication relativement superficielle des pairs dans ce projet, ainsi que sur les facteurs ayant limité un plus grand partage du pouvoir décisionnel, pourtant souhaité par plusieurs acteurs au sein du projet. Ce faisant, par le biais de cette analyse, nous illustrons et mettons en contexte des enjeux qui se détachent de la littérature sur la participation d’usagers ou d’anciens usagers des services sociaux et de santé à des projets de recherche et d’intervention dans le domaine de la santé et des services sociaux.
