L’art de la danse met le « corps dansant », vivant et vibrant, en relation et en dialogue intime dans/avec/par/pour l’environnement. Les danses d’inspiration africaine, ou danses Afro, participent à la construction des rapports à soi, à l’Autre, aux savoirs, à l’environnement et au monde, tout en étant une ode à la mort et la naissance, à la sécheresse et la pluie, à la moisson et la récolte, à la souffrance et la joie, à l’esclavage et la libération, à l’hostilité et l’amour. Les percussions impriment au corps dansant une présence rythmique au monde et l’accorde avec les autres vivants. Il y a donc lieu de s’intéresser aux liens du corps dansant avec l’environnement, et tout particulièrement en ce qui concerne les danses Afro. Cet article se veut un regard posé sur les liens unissant la danse et l’environnement. Le but est d’explorer les rapports à l’environnement que proposent les danses Afro, dans leur corporéité, leur théâtralité, leur historicité et leur mondialité.
