Abstract
Cet article aborde la question des inégalités professionnelles vécues par les femmes sous l’angle de l’intersectionalité entre le genre et la parentalité. Depuis cinquante ans, les femmes ont pris leur place sur le marché de l’emploi au Québec. Elles continuent pourtant à subir des discriminations du simple fait d’être des femmes. À ceci, s’ajoute un basculement qui s’opère au moment de l’arrivée des enfants, et qui a été qualifié de « plafond de mère ». Les inégalités professionnelles entre les hommes et les femmes se creusent alors de façon draconnienne et irréversible. En nous basant sur des recherches antérieures, cet article présente certains des mécanismes à travers lesquels se construit le plafonnement professionnel des mères et discute des enjeux qui lui sont associés, notamment ceux relatifs aux intentions de fécondité.
