Abstract
21種のグラジオラス野生種について特性調査および育種素材としての評価を行ったところ, 草丈, 葉数, 葉·花の形態, 小花数および開花期等には種によって大きな違いがみられた. また草丈が10cm程度で鉢物に利用可能なもの, 現在の栽培種にはみられない青色の花被片を有するものなど, 育種素材として有望な野生種が見出された. 香りを有する種は全体の52.3%を占め, 香りのタイプもチョウジ様, スミレ様などさまざまであることが示された. さらにこれらの野生種について到花日数, 小花の開花期間, 稔実日数および1さや当たりの種子数を調査し育種上重要な情報を得ることができた. フローサイトメトリーによる解析の結果, 野生種においては細胞あたりのDNA含量が多様で, 種によってイネの0.9∼3.5倍のゲノムサイズを有するものと推定された. 本法による倍数性の判定は困難であるが, 種の組合せによっては交雑後代の雑種性の検定に利用可能であることが示唆された.
