Abstract
Dans ce premier tome l’auteur raconte son combat contre son cancer generalise metastatique, il decrit la chronologie de evenements depuis l’apparition des premiers symptomes jusqu’a la mise en place des premiers traitements et des suivis realises. Il utilise son experience de medecins, de chercheur clinicien en sante et de son experience a Sante Canada pour guider les patients a travers les different etapes de traitements du cancer. Il discute des avantages et inconvenients des differentes modalites de traitement couramment utilisees en cancer incluant la therapie biologique, la chimiotherapie, la radiotherapie, l’hormonotherapie et autres. Comme il est fortement possible que le cancer devienne resistant au traitement initial, il discute des therapies en developpement et des therapies les plus prometteuses dans le traitement du cancer que sont l’immunotherapie et la therapie genique afin de demontrer aux medecins et aux patients qu’il y a de l’espoir dans le traitement du cancer.
