Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh rendahnya tingkat kreativitas siswa XI IPA di SMA Don Bosco II Jakarta setelah peneliti melakukan wawancara dengan guru kimia XI IPA serta observasi dan kuesioner mengenai kreativitas siswa. Proses pembelajaran yang dilakukan guru di kelas selama ini kebanyakan masih bersifat terpusat pada guru. Selain itu, kegiatan praktikum yang dilakukan siswa masih bersifat seperti buku masakan sehingga siswa kurang mendapat kebebasan mengekspresikan diri yang akhirnya dapat menghambat kreativitas yang ada pada diri siswa. Oleh karena itu, digunakan pendekatan inkuiri berbasis laboratorium sebagai pendekatan pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan kreativitas siswa melalui kebebasan untuk mengekspresikan diri. Penelitian ini dilakukan melalui metode quasi eksperimen yang datanya diperoleh melalui tes sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran dari masing-masing kelas kontrol dan eksperimen. Subyek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI IPA 1 dan XI IPA 2 SMA Don Bosco II Jakarta yang diambil secara purposive. Data diolah dengan statistik dan disajikan dalam bentuk grafik. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan diperoleh thitung yaitu sebesar 1,929 sedangkan ttabel pada α=0,05; dk=58 adalah 1,675. Oleh karena thitung>ttabel pada uji-t pihak kanan maka hipotesis penelitian diterima, artinya pembelajaran kimia dengan pendekatan inkuiri berbasis kegiatan laboratorium memilki tingkat kreativitas yang lebih besar dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran praktikum terbimbing dan diskusi (konvensional).
