Routine radiological surveys are an integral part of near-facility environmental monitoring, for tracking facility and waste site status, and to aid in directing the reduction of the radiological areas at the Hanford Site. The Environmental Restoration Contractor and the Project Hanford Management Contract Radiological Control Groups perform the routine radiological surveys. The surveys are performed at inactive waste sites; outdoor radiological control areas; tank farm perimeters; diversion boxes; lift stations; vent stations; perimeters of active or uncovered waste sites such as burial grounds, retention basins, ponds, process trenches, and ditches; underground pipelines; and road surfaces. This report summarizes the radiological surveys performed in support of near-facility environmental monitoring at the Hanford Site during the fourth quarter of 2002. The survey results and the status of actions required are also discussed.
