Abstract
La revue Relations est, à compter de 1941, l’organe de l’École sociale populaire de la Compagnie de Jésus et commente chaque mois l’actualité et les grands enjeux sociaux et politiques. Très attachée au caractère spécifique, notamment catholique, du Canada français et aux traditions pédagogiques des Jésuites, Relations s’inquiète des débats entourant l’enseignement secondaire québécois et de la séduction qu’exercent auprès de certains d’autres modèles de formation secondaire (américain, notamment). Dans un éditorial de janvier 1945, Relations formule un plaidoyer résolu à l’appui de la formation classique comme clé de la sauvegarde de l’identité nationale et religieuse du Canada français et comme condition de la préparation d’une élite nationale. Abandonner cette formation classique c’est, comme le proclame le titre de l’éditorial, consentir au « suicide d’une culture ».
