Abstract
The Invisible Woman : An Analysis of Trajectories and Representations of Women of Portuguese Origin beyond the Sea This study tries to compare immigrants of Portuguese origin in four countries and at distinct moments, from oral tales gathered in Canada, the United States, Germany and Brazil. Having reminded of the importance of the family picture in Portugal, it underlines not only the rupture of community links with the country of origin, but also the efforts made to preserve the memory of the past life in each of met situations, including in the middle of the incorporation process in the country of adoption.
