Abstract
Within the framework of this paper, the students values in their “relation toward education” will be analysed. After a definition of the concept, the paper seeks to identify the values at work as regards the commitment in higher education and within the range of students enrolled in college and university programs in medicine, social work and sociology. The report draws mainly on the results of an online survey conducted in summer 2007 and the analysis establishes the distinction between “instrumental” and “expressive” values
