Ce texte retrace rapidement l’évolution des travaux qui ont servi de base à l’établissement de PRECIS I, tel qu’il a été utilisé par la British National Bibliography de janvier 1971 jusqu’à décembre 1973. Suivent 10 notices catalographiques accompagnées de l’analyse française des sujets avant input, avec, en plus, des entrées d’index telles qu’elles apparaîtraient après le traitement automatique. Une bibliographie termine l’article.
