Abstract
Les associations entre l’indice et la charge glycémique (IG, CG) de l’alimentation et l’obésité et le syndrome métabolique (SM) demeurant controversées, celles-ci ont été explorées au sein des participants de l’étude des familles de Québec. Des associations positives significatives ont été observées entre l’IG, la CG et l’obésité, de même qu’entre les changements de CG et les changements d’adiposité avec le temps chez les femmes seulement. Cependant, certaines associations n’étaient plus significatives après exclusion des participants ayant fait des déclarations alimentaires improbables. Les associations entre l’IG, la CG et le SM ou ses facteurs de risque n’étaient généralement pas significatives. Ces résultats suggèrent que les femmes ayant une alimentation à IG et CG élevés sont plus à risque d’obésité et qu’une augmentation de la CG de leur alimentation est associée à des gains d’adiposité. Ils illustrent aussi l’importance de considérer la déclaration improbable de l’apport énergétique dans ce type d’études.
