Abstract
Dans le but de reconstituer l’évolution temporelle d’une tourbière à palses située dans la zone de pergélisol sporadique au Québec (en Jamésie), une étude chrono-stratigraphique et macrofossile a été entreprise sur une palse faisant partie de cette tourbière. L’accumulation de la tourbe a débuté vers 5310 ans étal. BP. Entre 4570 et 3020 ans étal. BP, des conditions sèches, associées probablement au réchauffement climatique de la période mi-Holocène, a favorisé la densification du couvert forestier et une récurrence d’incendies tant sur la tourbière qu’en périphérie. Vers 3020 ans étal. BP, le milieu est redevenu humide; l’épinette noire a diminué d’abondance alors que le mélèze laricin s’est établi et a crû à même la tourbière. Entre 2350 et 760 ans étal. BP, les conditions locales se sont appauvries et vers 760 ans étal. BP, a débuté la phase ombrotrophe. L’installation du pergélisol aurait eu lieu au Petit Âge glaciaire.
