Abstract
La figure de Robert de Keysere, maître d’école et imprimeur originaire de Gand, né en 1470, est mal connue. Il fut pourtant, pour le célèbre humaniste Erasme de Rotterdam, un « passeur de textes » essentiel. Les deux hommes se sont sans doute rencontrés à Paris à la fin du XVe siècle. En 1511, Erasme dédie à Robert de Keysere la Contio de puero Iesu : l’étude des circonstances de cette dédicace conduit à découvrir l’activité du prelum Caesarum, officine associée au nom de Robert de Keysere, à laquelle on doit au moins douze éditions entre 1511 et 1514 et qui fut sans doute le principal lieu de travail et de rencontres d’Erasme lors de son séjour parisien au printemps 1511. Parmi les quatre éditions auxquelles les noms d’Erasme et de Robert de Keysere sont étroitement associés – dont la Contio et le De ratione studii –, il faut accorder une place toute particulière à l’édition princeps d’un texte voué à une grande fortune : l’Encomium moriae.
