Abstract
L'asthme est une maladie chronique des voies aériennes répandue mondialement, connue comme un trait complexe, donc sous l'influence de plusieurs gènes (parmi lesquels un bon nombre a déjà été identifié) en interaction avec l'environnement. Le but de ce projet consiste à vérifier l'efficacité de l'outil bioinformatique Genes to Diseases (G2D), en l'utilisant pour la construction d'une liste de gènes qui pourront être ciblés en vue d'une analyse d'association entre des polymorphismes de ces gènes et l'asthme ainsi que les conditions reliées à la maladie. Dans ce contexte, une étude d'association sur certains gènes candidats sélectionnés parmi ceux de la liste proposée par l'outil G2D a été menée dans un échantillon familial du Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. Elle a permis d'identifier un nouveau gène d'asthme, PTPRE, et par la même occasion, de démontrer l'efficacité de l'outil G2D. Ce dernier permet donc l'identification de nouveaux gènes associés aux traits complexes et facilite la tâche du chercheur en réduisant le temps requis par la revue de la littérature pour arriver à cette fin.
