Dans son article « Le voyage et la chambre dans l'oeuvre de Xavier de Maistre », publie en 1972 dans le n.4 de la revue Romantisme, Gilbert Durand proposait une methode complexe d'approche du texte litteraire, la mythocritique, basee sur des theories anterieurement formulees par Mircea Eliade, Carl Gustav Jung et Gaston Bachelard.
