Abstract
Cet article examine les motifs de la mer et de la guerre dans le célèbre classique de la bande dessinée Prince Vaillant de l’artiste canadien Harold Foster (1892-1982). L’extraordinaire succès de cette série de comics n’est pas seulement dû à des facteurs externes comme le talent de l’auteur, la popularité de ce genre multimédia moderne qu’est la bande dessinée, l’attrait qu’exercent les productions néo-médiévales sur les publics contemporains, ou encore les idées originales que Foster savait si bien transmettre.
