Abstract
Abstract Popularly known as Bollywood, Hindi cinema has evolved rapidly over the decades. With globalization (1991) the industry extended its horizon to global markets, largely in terms of production and distribution catering to a multicultural wider audience, making inroads into the United States, Canada, Australia, Sub–Saharan Africa, Middle East and South East Asia and into Europe. The rise in the popularity of Bollywood films – with their music, dance and melodrama – has made Indian cinema one of the biggest entertainment sectors in the world. Over the decades, Bollywood has evolved as a strong global brand and business enterprise attracting huge investments globally. Among what some once called ‘East European’ countries, Poland could be said to have taken the lead in enticing Bollywood to shoot films, soap operas, commercials and periodic melodrama in Polish locations – palaces, parks, castles, monuments to gardens and old cities and towns.
