Abstract
Cet article interroge la constitution stratifiée du répertoire de la Comédie-Française de 1680 à 1730 à travers l’étude statistique du fonds primitif et des créations saisonnières. L’objectif initial est de rendre lisible la manière dont s’organise la programmation en continu et le processus de conservation des pièces jusqu’en 1793. Cette enquête nous invite également à analyser comment l’image du répertoire est traversée par un faisceau de variables qui nous obligent à confronter facteurs qualitatifs et lecture quantitative. De cette lecture ressort un point de tension irrésolu entre les besoins du spectacle vivant et la mission institutionnelle du premier théâtre français.
