Abstract
Cet article examine le maillage des considérations religieuses et littéraires dans le roman Angéline de Montbrun de Laure Conan. Privilégiant une lecture proche du texte, il s’intéresse spécifiquement à la manière dont le roman sert le discours religieux, l’encadre, le motive, lui donne force d’exemple, et, inversement, à la façon dont le religieux sert le roman. L’auteure décrit ainsi comment la perte des illusions qui succède à l’éveil spirituel du personnage central d’Angéline devient, paradoxalement, le déclencheur de sa quête romanesque.
