Cette étude porte sur la caractérisation de la matière organique dans les eaux naturelles et traitées avec la technique de spectroscopie de fluorescence 3D. Au total, deux usines ont été étudiées entre 2009 et 2011: Usine du Secteur-centre de la ville de Québec, Usine de traitement des eaux potables de Victoriaville. Les paramètres de qualité d’eau mesurés sont la turbidité à l’eau brute, l’absorptivité UV, le carbone organique dissous, le carbone organique dissous biodégradable et la fluorescence. Cette étude utilise la fluorescence afin de démontrer son potentiel pour suivre les variations de la nature de la MON dans une source d’eau de surface et en cours de traitement. Les données de fluorescence ont été analysées par deux méthodes: par pic (maximums locaux) et par déconvolution 3D en fluorophores unitaires (Parallel factor analysis – PARAFAC). La fluorescence s’avère un outil utile pour évaluer l’efficacité du traitement.
