Abstract
Dans plusieurs récits québécois contemporains, les tentatives de négociation identitaire, sans égard à l’origine du sujet, prennent l’hiver et la neige comme leurs métaphores de prédilection. L’hiver y est décrit comme un non-lieu ou un espace hostile mais attirant, qui provoque une crise et une réflexion existentielles. La neige invite les protagonistes à un pèlerinage physique dans la ville sous tempête ainsi qu’à un pèlerinage psychique via l’écriture sur une page blanche. Elle sert alors de palimpseste permettant au sujet de cacher l’ancien et d’y façonner d’autres possibles. Dans certains exemples, cette crise est d’ordre psychologique et individuel; dans d’autres, la saison révèle même une crise environnementale.
