Abstract
Nous avons étudié les infections au virus de l'immunodéficience humaine (VIH) et au virus de l'hépatite C (VHC), les comportements à risque associés et l'accès aux services chez les individus incarcérés dans les prisons provinciales du Québec, en comparant nos résultats à une étude précédente dans les mêmes prisons. Au total, 19,8% des hommes et 28,6% des femmes ont rapporté s'être déjà injecté de la drogue, ce qui demeure élevé malgré une baisse depuis 2003. La majorité des comportements à risque étaient moins fréquents en 2014 qu'en 2003. Les prévalences du VIH (hommes: 1,8% ; femmes: 0,8%) et du VHC (hommes: 11,9% ; femmes: 19,2%) sont aussi plus basses en 2014 qu'en 2003. Les principaux comportements à risque associés au VIH et VHC sont l'injection de drogue et le partage de matériel d'injection. L'accès aux services est problématique dans cette population, principalement pour le VHC. Nos résultats démontrent que les prisonniers du Québec sont à risque et nécessitent un meilleur accès aux soins.
