Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

This presentation will present the findings of a two-year study on pre-service teachers who struggle in the practicum.  This study, funded by the Alberta Advisory Committee for Educational Studies, sought the tips and advice of ten in-service teachers and five school-based leaders who work extensively with pre-service teachers and who have had at least one pre-service student struggle in the last four years.  The result was a resource for in-service teachers and leaders who find themselves working with a struggling pre-service teacher. This resource, which describes common concerns faced by pre-service teachers in their practica as well as the strategies and advice of those in the field, will form the foundation of this presentation.  A second result of this project will also be described.  This is the role of post-secondary institutions and current privacy legislation in the support of pre-service teachers who struggle in the practicum.

Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
