Abstract
L'établissement en agriculture demeure un parcours semé d'embûches, particulièrement sur le plan financier, où le recours à des sources de revenus non agricoles fait partie de la réalité. La pratique de la pluriactivité permet au ménage d'obtenir un revenu supplémentaire, notamment par le biais d'un emploi extérieur à la ferme, ce qui a une incidence positive sur la situation financière. Dans ce contexte, l'objectif de cette recherche exploratoire était de mesurer l'importance financière du revenu de la pluriactivité dans l'établissement en agriculture. Une enquête téléphonique menée auprès de 243 jeunes récemment établis en agriculture au Québec a démontré que 62 % des ménages échantillonnés sont pluriactifs professionnels. L'analyse statistique subséquente des données de l'échantillon a révélé que le revenu d'emploi extérieur a un impact significatif sur les dépenses courantes du ménage ainsi que sur les apports monétaires faits dans l'entreprise en période d'établissement en agriculture.
