Abstract
Dans la continuité des recherches sur l’éducation à l’environnement et au développement durable (EEDD) transformatrice-sociocritique ancrée dans le paysage et s’appuyant sur les concepts d’identité de lieu et d’agency, écocitoyenne notre étude vise à examiner la manière dont les jeunes de la région québécoise du Bas-Saint-Laurent considèrent les enjeux liés au fleuve Saint-Laurent, ce paysage maritime auquel ils font face au quotidien. Plus précisément, il s’agit de cerner la place qu’ils accordent à ce fleuve ainsi que la conception de leur rôle en tant que citoyen face aux questions environnementales d’actualité qui y sont associées. Un questionnaire a été administré à 334 élèves âgés de 16 à 17 ans. Puis, un nombre restreint d’élèves a participé à un entretien semi-dirigé. Les résultats permettent de mieux comprendre la diversité de rapports identitaires de jeunes au Saint-Laurent et font ressortir une composante affective. Ils ouvrent vers le développement d’un curriculum de l’EEDD ancré dans les préoccupations des élèves au regard des enjeux locaux.
