Abstract
Depuis une dizaine d’années, la ville de Detroit est engagée dans un tournant créatif qui se déploie autour d’un impératif : moderniser et diversifier l’économie régionale. Le présent article s’intéresse au rôle du design dans ce processus et aux éléments qui en font le principal véhicule de la stratégie qui consiste à aiguiller la créativité vers l’innovation et vers le développement industriel et économique. L’auteur s’appuie sur des documents institutionnels et sur huit entretiens réalisés avec des acteurs locaux de septembre 2015 à septembre 2017.
