Abstract
Pendant que la commission Tremblay prépare son rapport, les débats sur l’éducation se poursuivent. En juin 1955, Laurendeau intervient en éditorial du Devoir, en affirmant que l’université est la clé du développement tant de l’ensemble du système d’éducation que de la société entière. Ici encore, l’inaction de l’État est source de problèmes et de retards dont souffre cruellement le Québec. Laurendeau avoue son rêve d’un « ministre de l’éducation » capable de comprendre le rôle décisif de l’université dans les sociétés contemporaines.
