Abstract
EnglishThe restart of ecology research in France after the Second World War largely focused on ecological mapping applied to land-use planning. This theme has held an important place for a quarter of century and has almost disappeared to be replaced by a proliferation of scientific issues. This episode, today a bit surprising, can be explained quite well by the orientations of phytogeography since the beginning of the 20th century and by the political and economic conditions of this world war francaisLe redemarrage de la recherche francaise en ecologie apres la Seconde Guerre mondiale s’est realise en grande partie autour de la cartographie ecologique appliquee a l’amenagement du territoire. Ce theme a tenu une place importante pendant un quart de siecle, puis a presque disparu pour etre remplace par un foisonnement de problematiques scientifiques. Cet episode, a posteriori un peu surprenant, s’explique pourtant assez bien par les orientations de la phytogeographie depuis le debut du xxe siecle et par les conditions politiques et economiques de cette guerre mondiale.
