L’étude de la charpente des pavillons des Expositions universelles et internationales révèle que cette dernière a constitué une source de renouvellement de l’architecture. Lieux de recherche architecturale, les expositions permettent le développement du matériau. À travers ces pavillons naît une corrélation entre les formes architecturales et les techniques de charpente, en particulier le lamellé-collé. Grâce aux capacités techniques et esthétiques qui lui sont propres, cette technique signe le renouveau de la construction en bois, de la charpente et de sa visibilité au cours des XXe et XXIe siècles. La charpente lamellée-collée constitue une source principale pour l’étude des pavillons des Expositions universelles et internationales.
