Remaja memiliki tugas perkembangan untuk mencari identitas diri, dan cenderung memiliki gaya pemikiran egosentris, sehingga lebih memperhatikan diri sendiri daripada orang lain. Gaya pemikiran egosentris, serta kurangnya pembelajaran empati, akan memunculkan permasalahan pada remaja, ketika empati yang dimiliki rendah. Penelitian ini menerapkan modeling simbolis, berupa pemutaran tayangan berisi penerapan empati, dilanjutkan dengan roleplay dan diskusi mengenai tayangan serta pengalaman berempati yang pernah diterapkan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas modeling dalam meningkatkan empati pada remaja di UPTD Kampung Anak Negeri Kota Surabaya. Enam remaja berusia 11-16 tahun menjadi partisipan dalam penelitian ini. Tingkat empati partisipan diukur menggunakan Toronto Empathy Questionnaire (TEQ). Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah the one group pretest-posttest design. Intervensi diberikan dalam 4 sesi, selama 4 hari. Data akan dianalisis secara deskriptif dan menggunakan analisis non parametrik Wilcoxon signed rank test. Analisis deskriptif menunjukkan bahwa partisipan mampu menerapkan empati dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, dan menjelaskan contoh penerapan empati dalam tayangan. Nilai Asymp.Sig. (2-tailed) dalam uji Wilcoxon, menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara perolehan nilai sebelum dengan setelah intervensi. Nilai size effect, menunjukkan bahwa modeling efektif dalam meningkatkan empati partisipan. Peningkatan respon terbanyak terlihat pada indikator altruisme, yaitu sikap ingin menolong orang lain, yang didasari oleh adanya perasaan positif setelah melakukan kegiatan tersebut.
