Weber n’a jamais publié d’ouvrage intitulé Économie et société ; nous devons sa publication au travail d’édition – d’abord entrepris par sa veuve, Marianne Weber, puis poursuivi par Johannes Winckelmann – d’un texte publié en 1921 et de manuscrits plus anciens rassemblés après son décès en 1920.
