Abstract
The Housing First model of dealing with homelessness is not new. It developed in the United States, Canada and parts of Europe (notably Finland) from the 1990s. But a recent research report from the University of York,1 the Government's launch in May 2018 of three Housing First pilots in Liverpool, Manchester and the West Midlands, and an article in the Guardian by Aditya Chackrabortty (12 September 2018) suggest that it is now a feature of integrated homelessness strategies in several parts of the United Kingdom (UK) and deserves wider publicity.
