Abstract
La présence récurrente, sur des sites d’amateurs d’œuvres fictionnelles notamment, de gloses extrêmement savantes semble ressusciter, en les déplaçant, des méthodes d’analyse dignes des beaux jours de l’érudition du XIXe siècle, telle qu’elle s’incarnait notamment sous la plume des bibliographes et des académiciens de Province. Analyser les « formes de l’érudition littéraire » au XIXe siècle revient notamment à étudier le rôle joué par l’érudition dans la définition à la fois des études littéraires, critiques ou académiques, et de la littérature elle-même. En même temps qu’elle pénètre dans un champ en cours de constitution (celui de la littérature en tant que discipline), l’érudition s’incarne dans un certain nombre de pratiques discursives et éditoriales dont les écrivains parfois s’emparent pour les inscrire à l’intérieur même de leurs œuvres.
